Design Brief:
The task was to design a stamp around the theme “American Stories” which would illustrate various aspects of American life in a microcosmic setting. When coming up for ideas on this topic my thoughts drifted towards my dad’s life as a computer engineer for the Air Force. I contemplated many experiences from satellite recon, to acquisitions, to his time served in Iraq. Then I switch gears, I started thinking of life as a military family, In particular, the constant moving across country. This tangent spawned the idea of creating a triptych style illustration who’s focus was to display the diverseness of our great nation. It would depict scenes of rural, suburban, and city life styles while being linked with a smooth gradiented sky.
